Little posts, here and there!
I love Passion Pit. I've had mad love with them ever since I heard "Sleepyhead" in early July, but it's been hard for me to find any of their MP3s. But I'm currently listening to "Cuddle Fuddle" and ugh, I love. I can't wait for their EP to come out on the 17th of September.

I'm begging you for mercy, why won't you release me?
Well, on the 3 year anniversary of Katrina, I'm having to prepare for another possibly disastrous storm, Gustav. I lived in Mandeville for Katrina, and while we didn't experience the amount of destruction other areas (such as the New Orleans area, Slidell, and Mississippi Gulf Coast) had, there was a lot of tree and storm surge damage. The storm surge was isolated to the area surrounding the lake, but the fallen tree damage was unbelievable, almost. I remember the first day we came back. It was like a ghost town. There were signs up and down 1088, saying, "Looters will be shot!" The camouflage of the National Guard was everywhere. It was the most surreal experience of my life. Living on the Northshore, we were accustomed to evacuating for nothing. Coming home to just freshly watered grass, no damage whatsoever. It wasn't the same this time. It's hard to put into words, really. The movie theatre I ended up working at was on the Weather Channel because one of the outside walls was completely ripped off, and that theatre was destroyed. By the time I started working there, a few months later, it was still closed off because of black mold. Of course, it ended up being the IMAX theatre, but it still smells funky. Just seeing places you go to on a regular basis on the Weather Channel because of the damage is weird! My favorite coffee shop, Java Grotto, was on the lakefront. It was this great little place, where you could just chill and smoke cigarettes and talk to creepy people. It had an atmosphere I still cannot find today. The shop was completely gutted because of the storm surge. Just weird shit, man.
And now, we are preparing ourselves for another Katrina. I just don't believe it's gonna happen. Storm systems are notoriously hard to predict once they hit the Gulf. Why should this one be any different? I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. I also registered to be a volunteer at LSU in the event of a state emergency. I just hope I won't have to wait months to go back to school again. It was hard enough for me to actually be motivated to come back in the first place, I'm not sure how a hurricane would affect that.
I GOT ELEANOR BACK! When I finally saw her, I almost started crying. I did cry afterwards. I mean, this cat... she really is the love of my life. I know it sounds fucked up, but she really does give me strength. So not having her during a time when I really needed her, killed me. I'm so glad I got her back before the storm. There was no way in hell I would leave her out there to die. I would have had a search party going on for my baby.
In any event, since this is a music blog and all, I'll get back to the important topics. Oh, wait... I'm still on a quest for new music. I'm about to check out "Los Angeles" by Flying Lotus, seeing as how I'm in a serious hip-hop mode. Oh, and in an hour, I have to go to a meeting for my Music Appreciation class. That's all I got right now. I've got other things on my mind...

I see you got some money, and you don't know what to do with it.
MAN, FUCKKKKKKKKKK. Not only has school started, but I AM SO SICK OF EVERY MIX CD I HAVE. I seriously think that I listen to the mix CDs I make for other people more than they do, which is slightly discouraging and possibly not true.
But really, I need new music like I need money (which is a lot). But at least the rest of my financial aid appeals were approved, and I'm getting moneys deposited into my account soon. I need to buy textbooks... and a MacBook. :) HA. My account was closed due to OUTRAGEOUS OVERDRAFT FEES, but fuck ASI. Bitches ain't shit, and I was in the process of opening a Chase account anyway.
In any event, here's the infamous July 1st playlist.
1. "Where Do I Begin? (awayTEAM Remix)" by Shirley Bassey.
2. "Futuresex/Lovesound" by Justin Timberlake.
3. "My Moon My Man" by Feist.
4. "Bang Bang (ft. Billy Strange)" by Nancy Sinatra.
5. "Caramel" by Suzanne Vega.
6. "The Moneymaker" by Rilo Kiley.
7. "Music Is My Hot Hot Sex" by CSS.
8. "Ooh La La" by Goldfrapp.
9. "Ice Cream" by New Young Pony Club.
10. "Le Disko" by Shiny Toy Guns.
11. "Black Magic Woman" by Santana.
12. "I Might Be Wrong" by Radiohead.
13. "Radar" by Britney Spears.
14. "Jimmy" by M.I.A.
15. "Bossy" by Lindsay Lohan.
16. "Oslo in the Summertime" by Of Montreal.
17. "Buttons" by Pussycat Dolls.
18. "The Hill, the View and the Lights" by Cajun Dance Party.
19. "You Give Me Fever" by Peggy Lee.
20. "Swimming Pool" by Freezepop.
I unfortunately cannot listen to this CD anymore, and I threw it out the window. So it goes. That's what happens when you associate people, memories, and feelings with music. TRY NOT TO DO IT (even though that's what makes music so powerful and intense and magical and romantic) BUT TRY NOT TO, ANYWAY. I'm telling ya!
Song of the Day:
"Earth Intruders (Spank Rock Remix)" by Bjork.

There's one thing I want to say, so I'll be brave
You were what I wanted
I gave what I gave
I'm not sorry I met you
I'm not sorry it's over
I'm not sorry there's nothing to save.
Uhhhhh, love that song.
I think it's about time I dye my hair back to black. This blond is really annoying, I feel like a mutant sheep dog running around the place.
OKAY, so I think tonight might the first time in, uh, a really long time that I'm not going to get drunk. I've gotten ABSOLUTELY trashed these past two nights. Like, seriously, seriously drunk. I'm pretty sure I told Dean and Amanda that they couldn't break up because they were the only stable thing in my life. So, yeah. I think I could stand to take a one day break. Plus, starting Friday, it's a weekend of parties! I love it. Nicole and I both agreed that we must get really drunk for all of them and make really bad decisions that we probably won't regret. I said I had to get so drunk I couldn't even try to drive. AND THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING. Srsly. I'll have to make a "Weekend of Drunken Debauchery And Other Shameful Occurences" playlist or something. It's the weekend before school starts, gotta celebrate the end of summer in styleeeeee. Hopefully not puke-colored style.
I think I'm going to adopt a calico cat. She can't replace Eleanor, but I need to see the pretty white, orange, and black in my life. And soon.
I start work tomorrow! I FINALLY start my job. God damn. And Sarah moves to LSU Thursday. SO excited. Everything is almost coming together.
Songs of the Day:
1. "Sweaty Wet" by KillaQueenz.
This shit is on fire. I love me some women hip-hop. It's not every day you come up on women kicking ass in the genre.
2. "Hurricane" by Jamie Lidell.
Seriously, dude. People need to keep making music I wanna shake my ass to. UH, this song is so good.
God, I love how Lindsay Lohan is such a lesbian now. Seriously. It gives me hope to find a hot redheaded lesbian. Well, just a tad more hope than before, but hey, glass half full, right?

Some of us can see through those stained glass eyes.
Song of the Day:
"Pot Kettle Black" by Tilly and the Wall.
This song was AMAZING live. They put on such a good show, and I'm obsessed with the tap dancer. I got a picture with her, and I look like I'm about to start slobbering. But the funny thing is that right after the photo was taken, "Radar" by Britney Spears came on, and I was like, "Peace, Tap dancer, it's time for me to dance," so I ran away to dance. So, for all intensive purposes, I blew off the tap dancer to dance to Britney Spears. Oh, my priorities.
And my song of... oh, I don't know, my life at the moment:
"The Girl You Lost To Cocaine" by Sia.
It's such a sad song, but it is even sadder, because I feel like it's been sung to me, by many people, in the past few months. It's like hearing their perspectives all over again, and it is painful. Because it's true. Right now I have to atone for my sins. I do feel guilt, whether someone thinks so or not. And the funny thing is, I feel the most guilt about that situation. Funny. But, it worked out in the end, eh? Ha.
Eleanor is still not back. I keep having dreams that she comes back, only to wake up to the reality that she's gone. I don't think she's ever going to come back. How can you replace a cat that is absolutely perfect in every way?!
Everything hits at once, really. In a way, I'm getting my shit together. I'm going back to school. I have a job at the library. I have an apartment. I got myself away from substances. But then I have doubts about those things. I lost Eleanor. I don't have enough money to pay for things because I don't know how to save money. And then... I have personal life issues. I feel like I complain too much, and instead of fixing the things in my life that are kaputt gegangen, I completely withdraw and isolate myself. I don't deal! How do you deal with things? How do you get over people? How do you get your shit together? These things escape me! It makes me wonder if I've ever dealt with a fucking thing in my life. UGHHH.
One of these days, I will solve my own problems. Deal with my own issues. And finally become a person capable of doing great things. I will be someone worth being around, and being with. I just wish I could have been that sooner.
At least I'm getting water tomorrow.

Eleanor escaped my apartment Friday morning. She has yet to come back. :( The thought of never seeing her again makes me so upset.
Well, I'm taking a few road trips this week. It's my last week of "freedom" before I start work at the library and classes the week after that. I seriously hate not having a job. I'm SO WORTHLESS. And poor. And I don't have running water, lol.
I swear, I look at the past 3 weeks of my life, and wonder who the hell I am. I continually make mistakes, and I make the same mistakes over and over again. In all aspects of my life. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever learn from them, but I guess making mistakes is human. And I'm only human. Some days. Even still. It gets ridiculous. I should only be allowed to make final decisions after a week of deep contemplation.
