So, I have to admit, I checked out She & Him because I have mad love for Zooey Deschanel. She is one of my favorite actresses, even though I don't like many of the movies she's in. She can make a dud like "Failure to Launch" hilarious (at least whenever she's in it). And I downloaded the song she sang in the shower in "Elf" and I always thought she had a really good voice, so I'm not surprised she recorded an album.
At first listen, "Volume One" reminds me of "Rabbit Furcoat," with M. Ward replacing the Watson Twins. It actually seems to have more of a folky/country feel than that album, surprisingly. Her voice flows really well with M. Ward's. However, it lacks in some areas, like some lyrical depth, but it's a good debut from Zooey. I'm sure it's one of those albums that gets better in time.
Standouts:
"Why Do You Let Me Stay Here"
"Change Is Hard"
My dad's cat, Lady Bird (Mistress of the Underworld), finally had her kittens today. She's under a year old, and she had SEVEN KITTENS. SEVEN! That's unheard of (almost). There's already one established runt of the litter, and I'm afraid for its safety. There's a domineering orange tabby that keeps trying to separating it from the rest of the pack. Bitches.

2. "Downtown" by Heloise and the Savoir Faire.
3. "Great DJ" by the Ting Tings

I always love those Indie Rock Playlists I get off torrent sites. Good for some new music (though not all).
I'm so counting down the days until this summer. SO many new releases I'm anticipating. Wolf Parade, Black Kids, Coldplay, CSS, Death Cab For Cutie, Mates of State, Tilly and the Wall, The Notwist, High Places, etc... I'm sure I'm leaving some out, but there are SO MANY. Eeeeeee!
